Abstract

Abstract art is the easiest way to add colour to a room without committing to a picture of something. The collection ranges from soft colour-field washes to hard-edged geometric compositions, in palettes from muted plaster and sage to saturated cobalt and rust.

When choosing an abstract, start from the room rather than the artwork: pick one colour already present in a rug, cushion or chair and look for pieces that repeat it. Large, calm abstracts suit bedrooms; busier compositions with strong diagonals energise an office or hallway. Because there is no subject to crop, abstracts work in every format, and 3-panel sets are especially successful because the gaps read as part of the design.

Most abstracts here are available as matte canvas, framed canvas and framed art print; sizes run from 18 x 12 inches to 84-inch 5-panel sets. Check the wall span on the Size Guide and remember that free shipping and 60-day returns apply if the colours do not sit right in your light.
